The Homeschool Mama's Prayer

Dear Lord,
Today let me focus on today.

Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not next year.
But today.

For today is all I have. Right this moment, when I look into their eyes, what I say matters. How I look into their eyes matter.

Don't let my mind wander to...what's next?  What is everyone else doing? Am I doing it right?
No. Let me focus on this gift.

Of the moment.
Of these beauties.

I have been given a gift to be with my children.
Influence them.
Be a model to them.
Love them.
Teach them.

Let me remember the most important lesson plan
is not in my plan book.
It is not in the curriculum catalog.

It is in their hearts.  Do they have it? Do they know it?
It is You. It is Truth.
And without it, all I do today will matter not...

Let me remember that just for today.
It is all I have.

What a beautiful prayer and reminder of what truly is the priority.

Karen - This is so true, the reason we're home and doing all we do each day is because we believe this. Unfortunately, sometimes it is really easy to forget and when we do it's hard to get back with determination alone. Only through prayer and dependence on our Heavenly Father. Thank you so much for the reminder!

Terrific thoughts to remember! I encountered just this yesterday - my littlest who is turning three soon, pulled on my arm so I'd play a matching game with him on the floor. One part of me almost told him to wait so I could put a load of clothes in the wash first. The godly part of me won - I got up right then and sat with him on the rug and played :)
